Does your school district need to improve your teachers' effectiveness?

Increasing Teacher Effectiveness

  • Do you need help meeting teacher performance standards?
  • Are you struggling to meet diverse learning needs in your classrooms?
  • Do you need to update your teaching skills?
  • Do you need to expand your repertoire of learning activities?
  • Do you need more effective ways to manage time leaks during transition, instruction and independent practice times?
  • Do you need to improve your class presentation and facilitation skills?

During this four-day comprehensive train-the-trainer course, experienced and novice teachers will learn how to:

  • create more effective program content
  • use a variety of learning activities to present material
  • incorporate the seven elements of the UCLA Mastery Teaching Model
  • design exercises that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • manage transitional, instructional and independent practice time leaks
  • improve their platform and facilitation skills
  • apply workable solutions to typical classroom challenges

The training days are organized around the three decisions that a teacher makes regarding content, learner behavior and teacher behavior.

On the first day, the participants focus on content decisions and work through three steps of a six-step process to create lesson plans for their own curriculum.

On the second day, the participants focus on learner behavior decisions to complete their lesson plans and then design learning activities and teacher instructions that they can use in their classrooms.

On the third day, the participants focus on teacher behavior decisions as they experiment with methods to use time efficiently and increase student interest and motivation in their classrooms. They also present an interactive original presentation.

On the fourth day, the participants apply everything they have learned in the previous three days when they facilitate an interactive learning activity that they have designed using the seven elements of the UCLA Mastery Teaching Model. This practice is critiqued using Dr. Hunter's Peer Coaching Model and videotaped, for later participant review.
